The short version. Say Less has no accounts and no sign-up. Everything you type into the game, including player names, stays on your device. Photos you take in the app are never uploaded to us. We ask once whether we may count which cards get played, and if you say no we count nothing. We do not sell data and we do not use advertising trackers.

This policy explains how the Say Less mobile app and this website handle your data, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The app saves the following locally, so the game remembers your setup between sessions. This never leaves your phone and we cannot see it:
Deleting the app removes all of it.
The app can take a photo with your front camera so you can share a picture of yourself alongside the card you drew. This is optional and only happens when you tap the camera button. The photo is combined with the card on your device and handed to your phone's own share menu. We never receive, upload or store your photos. The camera permission is used for nothing else.
The one-time premium unlock is processed entirely by Apple or Google. Payment details go to them, never to us. We only receive the fact that a purchase was completed, so the app can unlock the packs.
The first time you open the app we ask one question: may we count which cards get played and which get skipped? It is the only way we can find out that a card is boring and cut it, rather than guessing.
Nothing is sent unless you agree. Saying no is a real answer: the question is not asked again, nothing is recorded, and anything already waiting to be sent is deleted. You can change your mind at any time under the ⚙️ settings, in either direction.
If you do agree, we record which cards and packs were played, skipped or voted on, which game modes and how many players, how long a round lasted, and whether the premium unlock was bought. Each record carries a random ID that this installation invents for itself. It is not your device ID, it cannot be linked to you, it is not shared with anyone, and deleting the app destroys it for good. Our servers also see the country your request came from, which is how we decide which languages are worth translating next.
We never receive your name, your players' names, your email, your location or your photos. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time.
With the premium unlock you can describe a theme — a trip, an inside joke, your group — and the app writes a pack of cards for it. This is the one feature that sends something you typed off your phone, so it is worth being precise about.
When you tap to generate, three things leave the device: the theme you typed, the language the app is set to, and the customer ID your app store purchase is filed under. The theme is sent to Anthropic, who run the model that writes the cards, and is processed only to answer that one request. The customer ID never goes to Anthropic; we use it to check that you really do own the unlock and to count how many packs you have made this month.
We keep the theme you typed, the generated cards and that customer ID on our servers. We keep them because a generative feature has to be answerable for what it produces — if a pack comes out wrong, that record is the only way to find out why and fix it. The finished pack is stored on your phone; nobody else can see or play your packs.
Please do not type anyone's real name, address, phone number or anything private into the theme box. Nothing needs it, and it would end up in the record described above.
Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — we cannot write the pack without sending the theme. This one is not covered by the card-stats consent above and is not affected by turning that off: it only ever runs when you tap the button yourself. Want a generation deleted? Email us and it is gone.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your personal data, and to object to processing. Because we do not hold personal data that identifies you, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or erase. You can still contact us at hello@saylessgame.com at any time, and you have the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
Say Less is for adults. It contains adult dares and suggestive content. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
